Two dominant backs in Ryan Estrada and Camron Johnson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The El Dorado Aztecs will square off against the Americas Trail Blazers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in El Dorado's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four contests.
El Dorado was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bel Air on Friday. The Aztecs blew past the Highlanders 70-28. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Aztecs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 407th, while the Highlanders are ranked 870th).
Brycen Booth was his usual excellent self, throwing for 168 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven passes, while also rushing for 56 yards and one touchdown. El Dorado also got help from Rahsan Bryant, who showed off his sure hands for 91 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: El Dorado was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 446 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

El Dorado didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Matthew Pinto and Xavier Torres. Torres is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made six or more in each of the last seven games he's played dating back to last season. Another thorn in Bel Air's side was Andrew Estrada, who made 22 total tackles and defended one pass.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Americas, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They enjoyed a cozy 35-16 victory over Parkland on Friday.
Americas' win came from a few key players El Dorado will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Joaquin Hernandez, who rushed for 100 yards and one score on only 14 carries, and also picked up 66 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Maurice Edwards, who rushed for 75 yards and one TD on only nine carries.
El Dorado's record now sits at 4-1. As for Americas, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Everything came up roses for El Dorado against Americas in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 57-20 win. In that matchup, the Aztecs amassed a halftime lead of 43-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
