Tallwood has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Hickory Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Tallwood comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last 11 games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Tallwood suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They took a serious blow against Ocean Lakes, falling 71-6. While losing is never fun, Tallwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 390th, while Ocean Lakes is ranked 193rd).
Meanwhile, Hickory's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 60-31 loss at the hands of Oscar Smith.
Tallwood bumped their record down to 0-11 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.0 points per game. As for Hickory, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Tallwood lost to Hickory on the road by a decisive 43-28 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2020. Can Tallwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
