In what's become a running theme this season, the Fairfax Lions gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. Everything went their way against West Springfield as Fairfax made off with a 82-56 victory. Given Fairfax's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while West Springfield is ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Fairfax was led to victory by Malachi Mercy and Cameron Love. Mercy went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 3 assists, while Love scored 22 points along with nine rebounds. Ronier Peters was another key contributor, scoring four points along with nine assists and nine rebounds.
Fairfax's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for West Springfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Lake Braddock the next time they take the court. Fairfax will head out to face Lake Braddock at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while West Springfield will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
