The North Fork Miners won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 59-22 loss at the hands of Roaring Fork. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points North Fork has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why North Fork lost, one person who can't be blamed is Sidney Neff. Despite the final result, she scored four points along with 14 rebounds.
Carly Crownhart continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Roaring Fork, going 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Crownhart has scored all season. Lelany Gardesani was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
North Fork has fallen quite a ways from their 18-6 record last season and are now at 3-5. As for Roaring Fork, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
North Fork and Aspen will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Aspen comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Roaring Fork, Roaring Fork and Grand Valley will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Grand Valley is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
