The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Friday Osceola takes on Cedar Ridge in the first playoff game of the year. Osceola has never lost back-to-back, and it wants to keep it that way.
Osceola's encounter with Newport two weeks ago was a 27-point stomp, but the result last week was anything but. Osceola couldn't quite keep up with Rivercrest last week and ended up losing 28 - 25. Junior Jariq Scales didn't go down without a fight, though. He put up some defensive resistance with 12 tackles.
As for Cedar Ridge, it can thank its lucky stars for its win over Bald Knob last week. The final score was a hard-fought 27 - 26. Cedar Ridge had two big standouts, as senior Daylon Gant ran for 176 yards and also punched in one touchdown, while senior Jon Bennett earned two touchdowns and 129 yards rushing the ball.
Osceola's defeat dropped it to 8-2 while Cedar Ridge's win brought it to 5-5. The two teams picked up some nice yardage in their most recent games (407 for Osceola and 412 for Cedar Ridge), so expect some excitement on the offensive end of the ball.
