Douglas has gone a perfect 10-0 against Galena recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Tigers will face off against the Grizzlies at 3:45 p.m. Douglas knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Galena likes a good challenge.
Douglas' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Reno 14-0. Considering the Tigers have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Annie Hill was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Marissa McLelland, who scored three runs while going 4-for-4.
Douglas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in eight consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Galena unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Carson by a score of 15-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Grizzlies have suffered since May 8, 2024.
Galena got a massive performance out of Taylor Cunningham, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Kaylee Fast also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Douglas has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Galena, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Douglas hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .381. However, it's not like Galena struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Douglas' way against Galena in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Douglas made off with a 12-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
