The Collinsville Kahoks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Centralia. While losing is never fun, Collinsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 273rd, while the Orphans are ranked 122nd).
Despite the loss, Collinsville still got an impressive performance from Talesha Gilmore, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Gilmore is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Carsyn Moad, who scored 11 points.
Collinsville has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season. As for Centralia, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-9.
Collinsville will be playing in front of their home fans against the Griffins at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Father McGivney Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Thursday. Centralia will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Crusaders at 12:30 p.m. on February 3rd. Althoff Catholic will be looking to keep their 11-game home win streak alive.
