Basketball Recap: Guilderland's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Guilderland won the last time they faced Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, and Brooke Lilley did her part to make sure it happened again. The Guilderland Flying Dutchmen put the hurt on the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Spartans with a sharp 60-38 victory on Monday thanks in part to Lilley, who posted 21 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The matchup was her fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Despite the defeat, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Taniyah Monforte went 7 of 16 on her way to 19 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Monforte is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game.

The win made it two in a row for Guilderland and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Guilderland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-51 victory against La Salle Institute on the 3rd. As for Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 47-38 defeat against Saratoga Springs on the 3rd.
