The Phoenix Country Day Eagles will face off against the Scottsdale Preparatory Academy Spartans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Phoenix Country Day is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 10-7 win over Arizona Lutheran Academy on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly three runs.

Jack Whalen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Reed Ross, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Phoenix Country Day was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Scottsdale Preparatory Academy had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Madison Highland Prep a 6-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Sehaj Malhi was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Malhi wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Holwerda, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Holwerda also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
Phoenix Country Day has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Phoenix Country Day was able to grind out a solid victory over Scottsdale Preparatory Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 8-3. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
