The Evansville Christian Eagles came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They slipped by Brownstown Central 58-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Josiah Dunham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Evansville Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Luke Davis, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Evansville Christian's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Brownstown Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evansville Christian will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Linton-Stockton at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Brownstown Central will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Brownsburg at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. Brownsburg is on a four-game streak of home wins, Brownstown Central a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
