Hampton is on a five-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Stuart is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Hampton Hawks will take on the Stuart Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Friday, Hampton's game was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 48-40 victory over St. Edward.
Jack Bullis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 281 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also throwing for 11 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Bullis' longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. Hampton also got a significant boost from Evan Pankoke, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 126 yards.
Meanwhile, Stuart humbled Santee with a 54-14 victory. The result was nothing new for Stuart, who have now won four games by 40 points or more so far this season.
Simon Addison was his usual excellent self, rushing for 92 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Addison is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played. Bryer Almgren was another key contributor, rushing for 70 yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Santee to a paltry 201 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Stuart's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out seven times before it was all said and done. The heavy lifting was done by Addison and Cory Gubbels who racked up five sacks between them.
Their wins bumped Hampton to 6-1 and Stuart to 5-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Hampton has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 262.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Stuart struggles in that department as they've been averaging 227.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Hampton lost to Stuart at home by a decisive 29-12 margin in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Hampton have more luck at home instead of on the road?
