On Tuesday, everything went Rocky Mountain Lutheran's way against Victory Prep Academy as Rocky Mountain Lutheran made off with a 36-15 victory. The Eagles pushed the score to 32-12 by the end of the third, a deficit the Knights had little chance of recovering from.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Allie Schumacher led the charge by putting up eight points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Sofia Meza-Villa, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Addenbrooke Classical Academy waltzed into their game on Monday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They blew past the Spartans 71-18. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.
Rocky Mountain Lutheran better keep an eye on Lucia Rodriguez. She was instrumental in Addenbrooke Classical Academy's win, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten steals. Rodriguez has been hot for a while, having posted four or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Trujillo, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 11 points.
Addenbrooke Classical Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.8 points per game. As for Rocky Mountain Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Rocky Mountain Lutheran has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Addenbrooke Classical Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
