Wabash has gone 8-2 against Eastbrook recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Apaches will take on the Panthers at 10:00 a.m. Wabash will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Friday, it was close, but Wabash sidestepped Madison-Grant for a 3-1 win. That's two games straight that the Apaches have won by exactly two runs.
Eastbrook came out on top against Madison-Grant on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Panthers blew past the Argylls 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won five contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Carter Daugherty was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Eastbrook is undefeated when Daugherty allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Daugherty was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Kyler Hackman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with seven RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Malakai Luthy was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Eastbrook hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison-Grant struck out seven times.
Wabash's record is now 7-5. As for Eastbrook, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wabash has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eastbrook struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wabash beat Eastbrook 12-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Apaches since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
