Rylie Sprouse made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since April 1st. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Carmen Allen was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Lulu Russell was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI and one double.
Ellet always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, South suffered their biggest loss since March 29th on Monday. They came up short against Riverside, falling 13-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Rebels in their meetings with the Beavers: they've now lost three in a row.
Summer Bliss (Lake Erie College) made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Matriano, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.
Ellet's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for South, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8-1.
South's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Ellet has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for South, though, as they've been averaging only 3.1 strikeouts. Will Ellet keep running through batters, or will the Rebels buck the trend?
