The Bertie Falcons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Gates County 85-40 on the road. The victory was just business as usual for Bertie, who after nine games remain undefeated this season.
Bertie was led to victory by Tequan Holley and Zymiere Dempsey. Holley scored 17 points along with seven rebounds, while Dempsey scored 20 points along with five assists. Dempsey is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jah'Kelvin Rascoe was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Bertie's win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.4 points per game. As for Gates County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Bertie won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Garner at 5:30 p.m. on January 6th. As for Gates County, they will head out on the road to face off against Tarboro at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tarboro is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
