The Archmere Academy Auks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wilmington Friends Quakers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Archmere Academy waltzed into Saturday's game with four straight wins but they left with five. They put the hurt on Odessa with a sharp 47-21 win.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Archmere Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Johnny Orsini, who threw for 162 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Fenice, who gained 104 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Wilmington Friends faced Tower Hill in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Wilmington Friends claimed a resounding 35-0 victory over Tower Hill at home. Winning may never get old, but Wilmington Friends sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Their wins bumped Archmere Academy to 6-3 and Wilmington Friends to 8-1-1.
Archmere Academy might still be hurting after the 34-9 defeat they got from Wilmington Friends in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Archmere Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
