Softball Recap: Trinity Starts Season with Win on the Road

Trinity had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They put the hurt on the Souhegan Sabers with a sharp 13-6 victory. This was payback for the Pioneers, who suffered a 25-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Sydney Demers was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Demers was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Sophia Romano was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Catie Bishop was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Trinity always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Souhegan only posted an OBP of .417.

Souhegan's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity will face off against St. Thomas Aquinas at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Souhegan, they will square off against Oyster River at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
