Ravenscroft is 1-8 against Wake County HomeSchool since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Ravens will face off against the Warriors at 6:15 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Ravenscroft gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over American Leadership Academy-Johnston. With that victory, the Ravens brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Matthew Hutter was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Ravenscroft is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise. Hutter was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Ravenscroft got a massive performance out of Matt Ulicny, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Ulicny has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Reed Holt, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five RBI, one run, and one double.
Ravenscroft was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Wake County HomeSchool waltzed into their game on Wednesday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They put the hurt on the Saints with a sharp 12-2 win.
Wake County HomeSchool let Jace Jones and Gabriel Ferrell run wild. Jones went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and five RBI, while Ferrell went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Jones has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Ellington, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Wake County HomeSchool pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Ravenscroft, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Ravenscroft suffered a grim 14-7 defeat to Wake County HomeSchool in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Ravens avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
