Even though the Beddingfield Bruins have not done well against the Princeton Bulldogs recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Beddingfield breezed by the Bulldogs at home to the tune of 71-43. Given Beddingfield's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 582nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Beddingfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jhion Ashby, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayonta Blanchard, who scored 17 points.
When it comes to explaining why Princeton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Denicholas Gray. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with four steals. Garrett Lane was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Princeton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for Beddingfield and bumps their season record up to 12-5. As for Princeton, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Beddingfield will take on the Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Princeton, they will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Johnston is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.5 points per game this season.
