The Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond Knights will face off against the Central A & M Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Okaw Valley on Tuesday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 19-7 margin over the Timberwolves.
LAYLA DEEL made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. DEEL was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, MACKENZIE CONDILL was incredible, firing off two home runs, nine RBI, and five runs while going 5-for-5. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was SOPHIA MONTS, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Central A & M didn't have quite enough to beat Tuscola on Tuesday and fell 3-2. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Gwyn Hardimon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Central A & M saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophie Roe, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Roe has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.
Central A & M's loss dropped their record down to 12-15. As for Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-13 record this season.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. However, it's not like Central A & M struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond beat Central A & M 4-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
