Softball Recap: Hewlett Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

Hewlett waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Lawrence Golden Tornadoes as they made off with a 14-1 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Alyssa Reich was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times she's played. Miranda Ospina was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Hewlett always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .533 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Hewlett pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.4 runs over those games. As for Lawrence, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

As of now, neither Hewlett nor the Golden Tornadoes have any future games scheduled.
