Athens is 10-0 against the Black Knights since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Athens Wildcats will be playing at home against the Towanda Black Knights at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Athens focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Athens had to suffer through a rough 77-47 loss at the hands of the Trojans. While losing is never fun, Athens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 348th, while the Trojans are ranked 68th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Korey Miller, who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Mosher, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Towanda came into Thursday's contest having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Wyalusing Valley by a score of 55-44 on Thursday. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Towanda has managed all season.
Athens' loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for Towanda, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12.
Athens came out on top in a nail-biter against the Black Knights when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 62-60. Will Athens repeat their success, or do the Black Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
