Byers is 9-0 against the Eagles since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Byers Bulldogs will look to defend their home court against the Deer Trail Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Byers' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Stratton, falling 55-27. While losing is never fun, Byers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while the Eagles are ranked 26th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Sophie Linnebur, who scored eight points along with two steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Cossette Kerns was another key contributor, scoring three points.
Meanwhile, Deer Trail was beaten by the Eagles 73-26 on Tuesday. Deer Trail was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-14.
Byers has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Deer Trail, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Everything came up roses for Byers against the Eagles when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 45-18 victory. Will Byers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
