The Umatilla Bulldogs won the last time they faced the Seven Rivers Christian Warriors, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Umatilla breezed by Seven Rivers Christian at home to the tune of 72-40. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-13.
Umatilla was led to victory by Herly Brutus and Artis James. Brutus scored 8 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 assists, while James scored 16 points along with 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Pressley, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Seven Rivers Christian's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Richard Kilias, who scored 11 points. Kilias scored a full 27.5% of Seven Rivers Christian's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Hendrix Loughridge was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 5 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Umatilla and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Seven Rivers Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Umatilla will square off against Altamonte Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Altamonte Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday. Seven Rivers Christian will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Academy at the Lakes at 7:30 p.m. on December 8th. Academy at the Lakes is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
