The biggest upset of the week belonged to Eldorado, who took down 792nd ranked Bronte, 20-6.
Texas Leadership Charter Academy moved up to 966 from 1,066 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 1A-2 Region II District 6. The Eagles were able to make the jump by beating Christoval 30-26.
Brandon Garcia was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 43 carries, he ran for 190 yards as Texas Leadership Charter Academy bested the Cougars. Teammate Darrion Thomas added to the ground attack by rushing for 24 yards.
Stefan Miller made the biggest impact on defense this week as David Taylor's team beat Christoval. The 5-foot-10 senior forced one fumble and recorded one fumble.
Irion County's Vicente Gomez and Logan McGee have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gomez has thrown for 242 yards this season, while McGee, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has four catches for 87 yards. Garcia from the Eagles leads the league in rushing with 978 yards.
Texas Leadership Charter Academy's Garcia is a mere 22 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
A big matchup in 1A-2 Region II District 6 this week will be when the Hornets take on the Longhorns. At the moment, Irion County is in second, while Bronte is in third.
The Eagles made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,054 from 12,585. The improvement was the result of 30-26 victory over Justin Taylor's team last week.
