Elk Grove has gone 8-2 against Franklin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Thundering Herd will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Elk Grove's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Franklin's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Elk Grove came out on top against Cosumnes Oaks on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Thundering Herd took their matchup against the Wolfpack 8-5. The Thundering Herd haven't had any issues with the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Jadyn Magnuson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Izianah Castillo, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Elk Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Franklin got themselves on the board against Sheldon on Monday, but Sheldon never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Huskies. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
Addison Meddings was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Micayla Arlotto was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Elk Grove's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin, their win bumped their record up to 12-9-1.
Elk Grove skirted past Franklin 6-4 when the teams last played on April 2nd. Will the Thundering Herd repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
