Baseball Recap: Landmark's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Landmark had lost four games straight , but after bumping their record up to 3-7 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Wheeler Warriors as they made off with a 15-9 win. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 9-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Harry O'Connor was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off two hits. O'Connor was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Miles Parker was incredible, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Mateo Rosado also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Landmark always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

As for Wheeler, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8-1 record this season. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly six runs.

On Wheeler's side, Ben Diaz led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Diaz has become a key player for the Warriors: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-6-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Scarcella, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Landmark will head out to face off against Bancroft at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Wheeler, they will face off against Middletown at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
