The Columbus East Olympians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Bloomington North by a score of 52-50. Columbus East was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bloomington North apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Columbus East's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Madelyn Poe, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals, and Messiah Trapp who scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Trapp scored a full 34% of Columbus East's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Guse, who scored 6 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Ava Reitmeyer was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with 6 rebounds for Bloomington North. The matchup was Reitmeyer's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mia Robbennolt, who scored 13 points along with 5 rebounds.
Columbus East's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Bloomington North, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus East will take on Floyd Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bloomington North, they will be playing at home against Southport at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southport is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
