The Mansfield Legacy Broncos will head out to square off against the Boswell Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Mansfield Legacy barely beat Weatherford the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Mansfield Legacy's pitcher stepped up to hand Weatherford an 11-0 shutout on Friday. The Broncos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Hope Gaudio, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Thalia Hunter also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Mansfield Legacy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Boswell). They were the clear victor by an 18-4 margin over Crowley on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Addy Watson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other pitching news, Harley Malone looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
Back at the plate, Samantha Cruz was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Analasia Eqsuivel was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run.
Mansfield Legacy pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Boswell, their record now sits at 5-3.
Boswell's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mansfield Legacy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .457. It's a different story for Boswell, though, as they've only averaged .357. Will they be able to contain Mansfield Legacy's hitters?
Mansfield Legacy came up short against Boswell in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 5-2. Can Mansfield Legacy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
