Wauconda hasn't had much luck against Richmond-Burton recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will challenge the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Wauconda turned things around against Belvidere on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bucs, sneaking past 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bulldogs have posted since May 14, 2024.

Georgia Reimers made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
Reimers wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ashley Maxwell, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Kylie Karaszewski also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Wauconda kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.
Richmond-Burton came out on top against Johnsburg on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Rockets never let the Skyhawks get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rockets.
The result came thanks to Hailey Holtz's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Madison Kunzer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Kwapniewski, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Richmond-Burton pushed their record up to 16-6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Wauconda, their record now sits at 5-18.
Wauconda skirted past Richmond-Burton 4-2 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
