The Buhl Indians will take on the North Fremont Huskies in a tournament on Friday. Buhl has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Buhl is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Kimberly, falling 12-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Indians couldn't push the score so high this time.
Jenna Ambrose made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Fremont). They never let Firth get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Huskies with their most commanding win of the season.
Peyton Lenz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She also tossed three walks, marking her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Catie Pickard was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Brynnli Schultz, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
North Fremont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
North Fremont now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Buhl, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Buhl took their victory against North Fremont in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 25-6 score. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
