The Oxford Wolverines will be playing at home against the Crosby Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oxford is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
Last Thursday, Oxford never let their opponents score. They blew past St. Paul Catholic 40-0 at home. Oxford's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Oxford's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robert Mineo, who picked up 63 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Matthew Mcguire, who threw for 63 yards and two touchdowns on only six passes.
Meanwhile, Crosby didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Wilby on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 28-24 victory. The victory was just what Crosby needed coming off of a 28-0 loss in their prior game.
Crosby can attribute much of their success to Steve Dunbar, who rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and Will Rogers, who rushed for 161 yards on only 15 carries.
Oxford's victory was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 6-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-6 Wilby and 1-5 St. Paul Catholic (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 22.7% over those games). As for Crosby, their victory bumped their record up to 3-3.
Oxford came up short against Crosby when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 18-14. Will Oxford have more luck at home instead of on the road?
