If the Flinthills Mustangs were riding high off their 64-14 takedown of the Chase Kats on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Flinthills fell to Fairfield 59-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Connor Fowler was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with 5 steals for Fairfield. That makes it four consecutive games in which Fowler has scored at least 25% of Fairfield's points. Another player making a difference was Calen Wente, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 20 rebounds.
Flinthills bumped their record down to 1-3 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Fairfield, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flinthills will take on Altoona-Midway at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Altoona-Midway focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday. As for Fairfield, they will be playing at home against Classical at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Classical will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
