ELK GROVE, Calif. - The defense contributed on the scoring end for
Elk Grove (Calif.) on Saturday, totaling 12 points as the Thundering Herd beat Ponderosa (Shingle Springs, Calif.) 41-0.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Justin Singh in the first quarter, the Thundering Herd led 14-0 at the half.
Elk Grove expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. EG scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run.
The Thundering Herd's most effective player was
Robert Frazier. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 20 touchdowns on the season.
Elk Grove came into the game allowing 13.6 points per game. The zero points that the Bruins ended with were well below their average of 34.2 coming into the game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 42-0 win for EG.
The loss comes after Ponderosa defeated Sheldon 49-46 last week. With the win the Thundering Herd extended their winning streak to three games.
