The Lakeview Sailors will head out to take on the DuBois Beavers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
DuBois will be up against a hot Lakeview squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Sailors' pitcher stepped up to hand Jamestown a 15-0 shutout on Wednesday. Give the Sailors' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.
Lakeview let Cody Fagley and Lucas Fagley run wild. Cody went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI, while Lucas scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Lucas has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonny Husband, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Lakeview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
While DuBois didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Bradford with a sharp 8-1 victory on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Grady Galiczynski tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Trey Wingard was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Madix Clark also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Lakeview's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for DuBois, their record now sits at 4-1.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lakeview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .504. However, it's not like DuBois struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
