Baseball Recap: Sumner Has No Trouble Against Hammond

After only two runs in their last matchup, Sumner made sure to put some runs up on the board against Hammond on Friday. The Sumner Cowboys were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over the Hammond Tornadoes. Considering the Cowboys have won four games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sumner got a massive performance out of Connor Forrest, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Neyland, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Sumner's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Hammond, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Sumner will have a chance to go back-to-back against Hammond: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
