The Clear Creek Golddiggers have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the West Grand Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Clear Creek, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-33 loss to Vail Mountain. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Clear Creek has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Clear Creek got a solid performance out of Collin Hendrickson, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. Hendrickson scored a full 60.6% of Clear Creek's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tyler O'Brien was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, West Grand's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 64-19 loss at the hands of Lake County. West Grand was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-11.
Despite their loss, West Grand saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kai Edson, who scored seven points, was perhaps the best of all. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Edson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cooper Martinson, who scored two points along with eight rebounds.
Clear Creek now has a losing record at 2-3. As for West Grand, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4.
Everything came up roses for Clear Creek against West Grand when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 72-31 win. With Clear Creek ahead 35-13 at the half, the match was all but over already.
