The Newsome Wolves will take on the Mitchell Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Newsome is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
The scorekeeper got an easy start two weeks ago as neither Newsome nor Bloomingdale made it on the board until the eighth inning. The Wolves narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bulls 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Bulls: they've now won three in a row.
Allyson Conner spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Annika Martin, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run. Another player making a difference was Sarai Nicholas, who went 3-for-5 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mitchell owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They put the hurt on Crystal River with a sharp 8-0 win. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Savannah Toukatly made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Toukatly was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Madyson Whitaker was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. MacKenzie Tucker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Newsome's record is now 12-2. As for Mitchell, their record now sits at 8-5.
