The Wichita Falls Coyotes will head out on the road to face off against the Decatur Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Wichita Falls strolled past Mineral Wells with points to spare, taking the game 41-26.
Jordan Mitchell and Eric Powell were among the main playmakers for Wichita Falls as the former rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown and the latter rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Powell was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. Cameron Jones also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Decatur fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took their contest on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 51-21 win over Burkburnett. Given Decatur's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 280th, while Burkburnett is ranked 735th), the result wasn't exactly an upset.
Nate palmer got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 182 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Abram Graham, who gained 144 total yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Wichita Falls to 2-5 and Decatur to 3-4.
Wichita Falls lost to Decatur on the road by a decisive 35-21 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Wichita Falls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
