Softball Recap: Pioneer Takes Down Del Campo in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Pioneer rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Del Campo Cougars. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Sofia Hernandez was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Marisa Bryson was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Pioneer hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.

Pioneer pushed their record up to 21-5 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Del Campo, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-19.

Coming up, Pioneer will square off against Beyer at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Pioneer 1.8, Beyer 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. Del Campo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
