Softball Recap: Red Level Wins Going Away Against Mckenzie

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Red Level and McKenzie, and Red Level kept the tradition alive. Everything went Red Level's way against McKenzie on Tuesday as Red Level made off with a 13-0 win. Considering Red Level has won five games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Caroline Blackwell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Amaya Williams was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bailey Green, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Red Level was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McKenzie only posted a batting average of .000.

Red Level is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. McKenzie dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Red Level will face off against W.S. Neal at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. W.S. Neal has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.53 runs per game on average), something Red Level will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for McKenzie, a feisty cat fight will be fought as McKenzie Tigers face off against Georgiana Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
