Zeke Ragan made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Ethan Busdieker was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nathanael Jewett, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.
Southside Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Wilson Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past New Life Christian Academy 18-2 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won six in a row.
Ethan Kriger made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wilson Christian Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-7 otherwise. Kriger was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other pitching news, Hudson White looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Wilson Christian Academy: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-7 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Dawson Carnes was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Coughlin, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Wilson Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Southside Christian, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.
Southside Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Warriors have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Wilson Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases.
