Basketball Recap: Countryside Extends Winning Streak to Three

Countryside won against Anclote last Friday with 67 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Wednesday. The Countryside Cougars were the clear victor by a 67-44 margin over the Mitchell Mustangs. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars who have now won three matchups in a row.

Countryside's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corey Perlin, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. The game was Perlin's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carter Padags, who went 8 of 15 en route to 23 points and six boards.

Countryside was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mitchell only racked up eight assists.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christopher Stoddart, who posted seven points and eight rebounds. Carson Peterson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Countryside has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Mitchell, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

Countryside will head out on the road to challenge Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Countryside's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches. As for Mitchell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fivay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fivay will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Mitchell surely won't give up without a fight.
