The Lennard Longhorns will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Spoto Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Lennard is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
Two weeks ago, Lennard came up short against East Bay and fell 27-17.
Lennard's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Richard Sykes, who picked up 102 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Jacob Mobley who punched in a rushing score.
Spoto can finally bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They snuck past Brandon with a 30-26 victory. The victory was just what Spoto needed coming off of a 35-13 defeat in their prior match.
Z'orey Cotton had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Cotton's longest rush was for an incredible 90 yards. Cam White was another key contributor, rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Lennard's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.6 points per game. As for Spoto, their victory bumped their record up to 1-7.
Lennard was able to grind out a solid win over Spoto in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, winning 34-24. Will Lennard repeat their success, or does Spoto have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
