The Buckfield Bucks will square off against the Wiscasset Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Buckfield is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 12 games.
Wiscasset's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Buckfield hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Bucks' pitcher stepped up to hand Old Orchard Beach a 25-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Bucks have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Carmen Crockett made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Buckfield got a massive performance out of Chloee Bennett, who went 3-for-6 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Bennett a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brittany Carrier, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.
Buckfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .660. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 33 runs the game before, Wiscasset was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They lost 18-1 to Carrabec. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Cobras recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Buckfield pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Wiscasset, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.
Everything went Buckfield's way against Wiscasset in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as Buckfield made off with a 21-1 win. Do the Bucks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
