On Friday, the Northeast Lauderdale Trojans faced the Choctaw Central Warriors in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Northeast Lauderdale took a 75-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Choctaw Central. Northeast Lauderdale has struggled against Choctaw Central recently, as their matchup on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Northeast Lauderdale still got an impressive performance from Jeremiah Clark, who scored 15 points along with five assists and two steals. Clark has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Steven Lightsey, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Northeast Lauderdale's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Choctaw Central, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 17-5-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northeast Lauderdale won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against West Lauderdale at 5:30 p.m. on January 20th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (West Lauderdale is ranked 50th, while Northeast Lauderdale is ranked 23rd). As for Choctaw Central, they will head out on the road to challenge Newton County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
