Basketball Game Preview: Pleasant Grove Eagles vs. Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack

Pleasant Grove and Cosumnes Oaks are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Pleasant Grove Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pleasant Grove is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Pleasant Grove fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Laguna Creek on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 65-62. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered against the Cardinals since December 19, 2017.

Loss or not, Pleasant Grove got some senior leadership from Pharrell Williams and AJ Breslin. Williams dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 boards, while Breslin dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. Those 14 boards gave Breslin a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Cosumnes Oaks lost to Monterey Trail at home by a 74-56 margin on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Wolfpack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 621st, while the Mustangs are ranked 34th).

Pleasant Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 14 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
