The Mingus Marauders will face off against the Evergreen Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Mingus is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Mingus took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Pomona as Mingus made off with a 17-1 victory.
Cameron Hausaman looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Derrick Alvarez was a standout: he scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carter Wacker, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
Mingus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Evergreen ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over Thunderbird.
Cole Laursen made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Laursen was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his six plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Berendes, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. Hudson Schraad was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI.
The victory got Evergreen back to even at 2-2. As for Mingus, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-8.
