The Emmaus Hornets will take on the Nazareth Area Blue Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Emmaus will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Emmaus earned a 6-1 win over Pleasant Valley.
Mari Eiswerth spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 14 Ks.
At the plate, Sadie Haefeli was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery DeFanti, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Emmaus hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 14 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Nazareth Area's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Easton Area by a score of 3-2.
Kylie Grover was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Alina Weaver and Gianna Perillo did some serious damage despite the final result: Weaver went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Perillo went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Emmaus pushed their record up to 18-3 with the victory, which was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average this season. As for Nazareth Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-3.
Both Emmaus and Nazareth Area just can't seem to miss. The Hornets have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Nazareth Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Emmaus came out on top in a nail-biter against Nazareth Area when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
