Softball Recap: Bangor Has No Trouble Against Jim Thorpe

While Bangor didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the Jim Thorpe Olympians with a sharp 20-9 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Slaters, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Bangor and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.5 runs over those games. As for Jim Thorpe, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-10.

Coming up, Bangor will challenge Lehighton at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.38 runs per game on average), something the Slaters will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Jim Thorpe, they will take on Southern Lehigh at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Olympians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
